Fabrics

Skyview shade fabrics are in the white and off-white ranges which is what is desired for most ceiling and solarium applications. Other colors can be made available upon request.

All fabrics are constructed of polyester which prevents staining and water absorption. Cellular fabrics are non-woven which give them the soft light filtering appearance.

Pleated Fabrics are one dimensional which allows them to fold up into a small space. (See fabric stacking chart below) Cellular fabrics have cells which create dead air space and therefore offer better insulation characteristics. They also hide the cords inside the cells which gives a more pleasing appearance.

The fabrics have different Opacity and Heat Gain Stopped (HGS) characteristics. The latter figures can also be understood for retaining heat in a room. These figures should be used as relative figures for selection purposes only. These characteristics should be used to select the proper fabric for a specific need - i.e. how much heat is to be stopped versus light.

Fabric Privacy Factors: Each fabric has different privacy or opacity factors. "1" on the scale allows the most light and "5" allows the least.

Opacities

Note: Pleated Midnight fabric should be located at least 12" from the window.

All shades should be located 3" or more from the window glass. The only exception is Pleated Midnight which should be located 12" from the glass. The reason for this is to reduce the heat buildup between the shade and the window. Solarium and sunroom shades may vary from this as discussed below.

Skylight shades may be located next to the window in the window shaft or as far down as being even with the room ceiling level. This is purely an aesthetic choice.

SUNROOM AND SOLARIUM SHADES SHOULD ONLY USE LIGHT FILTERING FABRICS

Pleated Light Filtering: A basic very economical light filtering fabric

Pleated Privacy: A closer weave fabric with more light filtering characteristics

Pleated Aluminized Light Filtering: Aluminum coated on the exterior side to reduce UV fading rays.

Cellular Light Filtering: Softly filters light with its' cellular construction. Cords are hidden internally. Very effective in reducing heat buildup. This is the only fabric recommended for curved window applications.

Compact Stacking

When fully raised, Skyview Shades stack compactly for a clean, sleek appearance. Approximate stacking heights are as follows:

Total Stacking Height Including Rails

Shade Length

Optima & Day/Night

Ultima Day/Night

20"-26" 1 3/4" 2 1/4"
28"-34" 1 7/8" 2 3/8"
44"-50" 2" 2 1/2"
67"-73" 2 1/4" 2 3/4"

*Add 7/8" for motorized stack height
